Week 3 weekend round-up

Many of you seem to have enjoyed the shift from conceptual to practical this weekend – although the forum particularly has been very quiet following a bit of a flurry around design roles and practices on Friday.  In a tweet Penny Bentley (@penpin on Twitter) puts it down to folk being busy printing, cutting and sticking…J She may be right! Certainly the Cloudworks unique visitors stats seem to be holding well at about 500 unique visitors a day at the weekend and 700-800 on week days (you can access the Cloudworks stream here if you want to have an at-a-glance look at what’s happening there right now).  I don’t have access to the forum or website stats from home but will check when I get back in to work and report back.


Based on those of you that have already shared your work, this seems to have been a really productive weekend on the OLDSMOOC. We have been completely wowed by your creativity – for example @greymills  initial work in thinking about building the OULDI Course Features activity ain OpenSim to support distance design collaboration.  And many of you are starting to construct your own ‘fit for purpose’ toolkits - Bob Ridge-Stern writes in his blog post that he found the OULDI Course Features and Map useful at macro-level combined with the University of Leige’s Hybrid Learning Model (8-LEM) categories for meso-level consideration of student activity (University of Ulster have developed a lovely set of cards for this model which can be downloaded from here: http://cetl.ulster.ac.uk/elearning/documents/HLM-Cards.pdf) - those of you that like to start with Learning Outcomes when you design are likely to find this framework particularly useful. Jane Challinor (@virtualleader) has done an awesome piece of work using the OULDI Dig Lit and Course Features Cards in combination with the Course Map representation. We could have mentioned many more of you here - we've really been blown away by your work.


Some of you have just this week decided on a project and some are still thinking about it – or just enjoying learning without applying – and this is of course completely fine. All the activities and resources are openly available and will be available long after the MOOC finishes. In part, this is where Cloudworks will come into it’s own (I promise!) it is great for open-archiving. Could we finish by encouraging all of you to give some feedback to those that are just now sharing their project ideas – we’re sure they’d really appreciate it!
